Are You Happy?

Performing Classical Guitar During COVID-19

Join Dr. Eric Zillmer to discuss your happiness during COVID19.

Classical guitar performers, students, and teachers have been hit hard in terms of having their education, performances, and businesses interrupted because of COVID-19. It is normal to feel confused during this time of uncertainty. But, … what are you going to do about it? As a classical guitarist what tools do you need to have in your Psychological First Aid Toolbox to be able to weather this public health storm?

Topics include:

  • Where in the brain precisely are music and happiness located, and how are they connected? The answer may surprise you!
  • Social distancing, even for guitar players who are used to practicing alone, is inherently unpleasant. Can we be happy by ourselves?
  • Communicating, engaging socially, and performing online are important right now. How is the digital music experience different?
  • Resiliency enables musician to grow through adversity.

But, … how does one become more resilient?
